Tatta Hitotsu no Koi is one of my favorite dramas of all time and I've always wanted to go to Yokohama because of it. I've finally been able to go around Yokohama for a day and went to a few spots where they filmed the drama back in 2006! I've based my info on this website.

Casting director of Gokusen is insane. Imagine casting 3 batches of relative unknowns who would go on to become highly successful actors. There must be a blessing that comes with being casted in Gokusen. Whenever I rewatch I get excited spotting big stars now that were just students with no speaking lines in the background.

Netflix has been consistently adding a lot of subbed Jdramas, movies and documentaries to its roster, unfortunately a lot of it is region locked.
Streaming apps like WeTV, Viu, Viki, IQiyi and others carry subbed Jdramas and some of them carry ongoing dramas as well. Most of these are completely free but others will have ads or have an optional premium service.
If you're from the Philippines or in regions near the Philippines, Waku-Waku Japan and GEM TV (both on Cignal in the Philippines) have shows like VS Arashi, Kaji Yarou (Waku-Waku Japan), dramas like Red Eyes (GEM TV) as well as other shows and dramas subbed in English.
I would love to know if you know any other legal ways to support the Japanese entertainment industry and the artists. I believe choosing the legal way to support them even if we are used to years of going around the back to consume these content, is also going to be helpful in encouraging them to open up more to the global market.

Everyone's so young but so good looking and I find they have great chemistry! I'm biased towards HanaDan of course but I feel like this is gonna be a great remake. I'm not at the scene in question yet but the scene was really a in all the remakes and was being faithful to the story, and just shows that years ago when the manga was made this type of behavior was romanticized. I'm pleased people know better now. I do think Dao Ming Si is a little less of a jerk to everyone here than other adaptations, and just a jerk specifically to Shan Cai. Still planning to finish MG 2001 so I can compare it to this one.

The new Meteor Garden 2018 is set to be aired in August, so I've decided to watch Meteor Garden in preparation. I've seen Meteor Garden when I was very little, and everyone talked about it in school, so I had a vague memory of it, but I couldn't bring myself to watch it because the 2 seasons would total about 61 episodes and that's like watching Hana Yori Dango seasons 1 & 2 thrice (I've seen it loads more times in this lifetime, just rewatched it a month ago, it is my intro to J-drama and my favorite of all so I'll probably be biased) but yeah now I've decided to really watch Meteor Garden even if I could only find it in 480p online. So for the love of the franchise, I've decided to compare both versions, not to judge and debate which one is better, but since I haven't read the manga and these dramas are both based on that, I could see which ones were consistent throughout both adaptations, which ones were unique, cultural adaptations etc. This entry is basically a passion project and will probably be pretty long, detailed and updated as I make my way through Meteor Garden so I will split it per Meteor Garden episode. I will link comparisons of all episodes here. I have only screencaps of Meteor Garden for now but I'll update it with the HYD version soon for comparison.

Todome no Kiss - Highly Recommended
May. 16th, 2018 01:18 pmI just finished Todome no Kiss and I freaking love it. It was so unexpected and well made. My only regret is not watching Todome no Parallel side by side like it was made to be , I figure if I did I would love it more and it would be so much more complicated. I haven't completely moved on from Ouroboros yet and I felt like I wasn't able to enjoy it as much because it felt like Maou and I started this drama having no clue that it was just as twisted and now I'm a convert and so in love with the looks and acting ability of both Yamazaki Kento and Mackenyu. It's another one that I'll be keeping in my hard drive with the other 2 above, these are my drama big leagues and honestly I can't wait for the day I'll forget the entire story and plot just so I can enjoy watching it again. The character development is intense and the fanservice is just great, watch out for Kento's close ups. Next time though hopefully I'll do it right and not forget to watch Todome no Parallel side by side. I have been waiting for Mackenyu to act as a host since seeing his post on Instagram but TnK's story got me so engrossed I completely forgot about it and now I find out it was on TnP and not TnK! Someone please sub all of Todome no Parallel please and I need to know where in Shinjuku this was shot so I can make a pilgrimage to Kabukicho's host clubs someone please put info on loca.ash.jp!

HYD reference in Ouroboros?
Apr. 27th, 2018 10:59 amIs it just me or on episode 6 of Ouroboros when Ikuo and Danno went to look around Yamashiro’s house, Tat-chan picked up an apple and bit it the same way Tsukasa teaches Hanazawa Rui to do in HYD? Might just be a coincidence but there really isn’t a reason for him to pick up the apple otherwise. I’d say it’s a homage as both characters are played by Oguri Shun and both shows are TBS. Sadly don’t have any screenshots for it. Ueno Juri is also very lovable in this drama, whereas I found her quite boring in movies and variety shows from years ago, but it seems like she gets along well with this cast.
