Japan Trip: Arashi's 25th Anniversary, Nino's book, recreating Arafes pamphlet shoot

Since they've been on hiatus for 4 years, I haven't been able to spot Arashi everywhere like on my last visit , but there were still a few bits and pieces.

I couldn't spot any KAT-TUN this time, but when I went for the first time in 2013 Kame's Panasonic Lamdash ads were on the train.

I was able to catch Sakurai and Ariyoshi's Yakai on my last night, and Nino's LUUP CM too. Aiba's face was around Shibuya for his Koikeya CM. I was sad not to see any trace of Jun though.

However, I was in luck as it happened to be Arashi's 25th Anniversary Blu-ray release, and I spotted their displays on some random record shop visits.

On my last day, I found on Twitter that it was Nino's book release date, and that he had a full page ad on the newspaper. I quickly requested a copy of the day's paper from the hotel, and went to the bookstore to grab my copy of his book. I spotted his billboard for it too!

I’ve met the nicest people in this fandom



I’ve been trying to practice my Japanese by speaking to other Japanese fans on social media.  I’ve been talking to one fan for less than a month and mentioned I wasn’t able order the Arafes keyholder because of a conflict with the service that I used. She then offered to send me a spare one that she bought for herself all the way from Japan to the Philippines. At first I was so skeptical to give out my full name and address to a total stranger from the internet whose face I don’t know and doesn’t know my face, but today i finally received it and it really was the sweetest thing. She even included a handwritten letter telling me to come to Japan so she can introduce me to her other friends who are Arashi fans! 
Other fans I’ve been talking to send me photos of TV and newspaper appearances, things I wouldn’t see if I didn’t live in Japan, and most of them express support for Johnny’s globalizing. I’m just really pleasantly surprised after thinking all this time that Japanese fans didn’t wanna share their idols.

I haven't listened to Bay Storm in such a long time! Anyone know who the dude he was talking to today? I'm so glad he played Carry On and After the Rain. Also, does anyone know if Kame's radio show Hang Out is still there? And a random thought, I want Nakamaru and Tanaka Juri to perform One on One, his duet with Koki.

I am so happy for him! My ichiban is going to be a papa!  Despite supposedly hating children! I'm glad because of the hiatus he will have more time to spend with his child. Excited for him to have his own cute little brat. Now it's time to rewatch Yamada Taro Monogatari.

My Arafes Goods finally arrived!

Arafes 2020 was my first Arashi concert so I wanted to get the full concert experience. Naturally, a big part of the concert experience is the goods so I was extremely happy when I found out that you can now buy Johnny's concert goods , theater goods, Arashi's Exhibition Journey goods, and basically all the shop photos, books, CDs/DVDs, and other goods for each artist online on Johnny's Online Store.

I was very very excited cause when I was first in the fandom, I had to have my sister's friend who went to Japan physically go to a store and buy the All the Best 1999-2009 album for me, and thankfully she was also a Johnny's fan and understood what I was looking for. Now that technology is making being in the fandom and supporting all our favorite groups easier, the only problem I have left is getting it shipped to my country. As is the problem for anything related to Johnny's, in order to buy from their online shop, you must register and in order to register, you must have a Japanese address. I searched online for a proxy service that could do it for me, and placed my orders immediately that same morning when I bought my tickets.

Johnny's Email Information Service

I saw Toma and Matsujun trending on Twitter and because I've been traumatized by a lot of bad celebrity news this year my reaction was fear that something had happened. But after going through the tweets, I realized it's because Christmas messages from all the Johnny's artists are up today. Also through Twitter, I found out that there was an email information service for Toma and other artists that was free to join. I am not sure if this is the equivalent of the fan club for these artists, but I did receive a membership number and special contents so I think it is. Which I was very excited about. I also signed up for Kazama-pon's information service. I'm sure the number of special contents are way less than there would be for paid fan clubs of the Johnny's groups, but I was still really happy with what I got. And I received an online membership card in place of a physical one. I suggest you sign up for this service too as it's free and covers a lot of artists! Just go to the JFC official site!

 Does anyone know if being a part of this service means you are a part of Johnny's Family Club and thus the JFC rates apply?

HELLO NEW DREAM! PROJECT and AN A TA FOR DREAM

On November 3rd, Arashi Day, Arashi launched a new project in collaboration with their sponsors. It’s the Hello New Dream! Project and I found the special movies really moving and inspiring. It really gave me the encouragement to find a new dream and work towards it, as I’ve been pretty much lost for so long until that point. But the first thing they launched was ANATA for dream, where they sing your dreams to the tune of A RA SHI. You can also listen to their dreams in the official Hello New Dream Youtube page. These are the ones I’ve made for myself and you can also make your own through the same link.

Today, they also launched something called the Dream Action Sheet which I’m really excited for. It contains questions which help you reflect and evaluate your dream and how you will achieve it. I’m posting mine here for accountability and also made it my wallpaper on all my devices because the size fits perfectly. Here’s hoping the next time I check this my dream will have come true!

ARAFES 2020 repeat delivery announced!

I was such on a post concert high last night that I had to watch Arafes 2012 on Youtube again because 90 minutes of Arashi is just not enough. Then an hour ago, I was so surprised when Johnny's net sent me an email and after clicking the translate I found out they would offer archive viewing for Arafes 2020 after all! They emphasized many times that there would not be archive viewing for Arafes 2020 so I had to take the day off work and was very worried that something would go wrong. I could not see a similar link on the English Arafes website so I wonder if they offered the service to the English website viewers as well. However, the archive viewing is only offered on preset times and each ticket holder can only view once, and since I'm unable to join the fan club I'm still unable to purchase the fan club exclusives.

On the other hand, I just saw Arashi's Arafes goods introduction on Johnny's Merch Market's IGTV. I bought my goods almost a month ago and it was a blessing in disguise that they hadn't arrived yet, because when Matsujun flipped that pamphlet for us to have a preview, I just had to order it immediately. Would be a perfect memorabilia for my first Arashi concert and it took ALL of my willpower not to order all the goods.

OMG both of my ichibans. TBH I loved HYD so if Mao and Jun are really together that's awesome but if not then I hope the rumors would just stop. I wouldn't want them to get typecast in that role and extend to their lovelife since both are great at playing different roles and a lot can happen in so many years, maybe it was true but it's not anymore. Anyway Jun apparently cheated on Mao so I hope she doesn't go back to him.

If the rumors are true, I’m happy that Nino is finally prioritizing his personal life, but I’m also worried about the impact it could have on his career and Arashi’s as well. But he's earned so much money and worked so hard so if he wants to lay low, I'll accept that. I'm glad he was able to find time to go to the Maldives. I just hope that the marriage will be happy and not end in divorce, and I hope the jimusho and the jani-otas don’t give him such a hard time. I recall in an interview before they were predicting the order they would get married, but I forgot who the answers.
