Arashi’s Ninomiya pleasantly surprises with his appearance at the signing ceremony.

July 24th: Western Japan’s flood calamity has caused 219 deaths and destroyed more than a thousand homes and buildings. Recently an intense heat wave has swept Japan. While rebuilding projects remain in progress, popular Johnny’s group Arashi’s members successively visit the disaster area.

Last week, Matsumoto Jun traveled to Hiroshima and Ehime prefectures. Yesterday, 35 year old member Ninomiya Kazunari brought a 50 million yen donation (equivalent to 14 million NTD) to Okayama prefecture. Since 2011 Arashi has been active in disaster relief. For the past 7 years, their donations have totaled up to 2 billion Japanese yen (equivalent to 560 million NTD).

Before Ninomiya left for shelter, he first went to the Okayama Prefecture Hall with the donation to pass on to governor Ibaragi Ryuta, saying: “This sum of money contains the faith of a lot of people in it. I am hoping it may bring vigor as well as smiles, and continue to provide help to everyone.”

Since 2011’s March 11 earthquake, Arashi has started to devote themselves to disaster relief, that year they started conducting “Arashi’s Waku Waku Gakkou”, with a portion of the tickets donated to disaster relief. For this time’s flood calamity they directly donated 50 million yen each (14 million NTD) to disaster-stricken Hiroshima, Ehime and Okayama. It is the members conveying their personal feelings to the prefectures.
